National Association of Community College Teacher Education Programs 2012-2013 Scholarship Program
 
The mission of NACCTEP is to promote the community college role in the recruitment, preparation, retention, and renewal of diverse early childhood and K-12 teachers and to advance quality teacher education programs in the community college. To further this mission, NACCTEP is proud to offer two $1,000 scholarships to students at member colleges who are studying to become teachers.
 
DESCRIPTION

  • The purpose of the NACCTEP National Scholarship Program is to provide financial assistance to students (undergraduate and alternative certification/post-baccalaureate) at NACCTEP member colleges who are studying to become teachers.
  • Awards are for a total of $1,000.
  • Scholarship awards will be made available through college financial aid offices.
  • An individual may receive a NACCTEP scholarship only once.
  •  Award recipients who withdraw from their member college or do not maintain the minimum amount of credits will forfeit their scholarship.

 
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

Each applicant must meet all of the following eligibility requirements.

The applicant must:

  • currently attend a NACCTEP member college. Please refer to www.nacctep.org for a list of member institutions or contact NACCTEP at 480-731-8760;
  • be a U.S. citizen or eligible U.S. permanent resident;
  • be in good academic standing, with a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale);
  • be enrolled in and maintain a minimum of six credit hours at a NACCTEP member college during the fall 2012 semester;
  • be enrolled in and maintain a minimum of six credit hours at a NACCTEP member college or transfer to an education program at a four-year institution during the spring 2013 semester; and
  • have earned a minimum of 18 college credit hours by the end of the spring 2012 semester (for alternative certification/post-baccalaureate program students, credits may be from their bachelor’s degree program course of study).

NACCTEP and Western Governors University (WGU) Teacher Education
Scholarship Program
 
The goal of this scholarship program is to provide graduates with a smooth transition between the two-year teacher education associate’s degree programs and finishing their bachelor’s degree online. As part of the program, WGU will provide both graduates and staff members of a NACCTEP member institution the following benefits:
 
• An application fee waiver (a $65 savings).
 
• Eligibility to apply for the WGU NACCTEP Teacher Education Scholarship - WGU has agreed to fund 20 annual scholarships, each valued up to $2,000, which are disbursed at $500 per six-month term for up to four terms.
 
• This scholarship is available only for graduates and staff members who want to earn one of WGU’s teaching degrees
