Spotlight On: Cumberland County College, Vineland, New Jersey


As the first community college in New Jersey to open its own campus, Cumberland County College (CCC) has a rich 45-year history of providing a quality education that prepares students for success in the ever-changing global environment. CCC's 100-acre campus provides an outstanding educational and social atmosphere for students of all ages.

CCC offers pathways for students who are planning a career in education, at either the elementary or secondary level, with various study options, including:

  • Elementary/Secondary Education - Associate in Arts
  • Early Childhood Education - Associate in Applied Science
  • Early Childhood Education - Academic Certificate
  • Infant/Toddler - Career Certificate
  • Teacher's Aide in Early Childhood Education - Career Certificate
  • Early Childhood Education Management - Short Term Training
  • New Pathways to Teaching in New Jersey - Professional Certification Program

The education program at CCC boasts one of the institution's highest enrollments. Cumberland provides a clear career path for students seeking teacher certification, as well as a solid foundation for those who choose to go on to earn bachelor's and master's degrees.

CCC is a comprehensive community college that is accessible, learning centered, and dedicated to serving a diverse community of students and employers through quality innovative programs, services, and the appropriate use of technology for lifelong learning. CCC is committed to the core elements of community college education: Liberal Arts and Transfer, Career and Occupational Studies, and Continuing and Professional Education.

Fully accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education, CCC offers more than 90 programs of study leading to associate degrees, academic certificates, career certificates, and short-term training certificates. More than 4,200 students enroll during the academic year, and some 25,000 students have graduated from CCC since it opened in 1966.

About half of CCC's graduates continue their education at four-year colleges and universities. The college's graduates have successfully transferred to every college in New Jersey and scores of colleges and universities throughout the United States.

CCC's on-campus Shirlee and Bernard Brown University Center houses eight partner universities and offers incredible opportunities for students to earn bachelor's and master's degrees close to home. The University Center provides a convenient way for residents - many who have job and family responsibilities - to grow and stay in the county, helping to make the community's economy stronger.

CCC serves as a catalyst for creating collaborative relationships across southern New Jersey that enhance the quality of life through excellence in education, community leadership, and economic growth.
