| The Anne Arundel Community College (AACC) Chamber Singers were formed seven years ago in response to student interest and growth. In addition to numerous concerts and productions on-campus at the Pascal Center for Performing Arts, the AACC Chamber Singers have been featured in performance at Oriole Park at Camden Yards, the Maryland State House, the Martin Luther King Symposium "Lift Every Voice and Sing" Concert at St. John's College, and area schools and community centers. The Chamber Singers are comprised of AACC students and community members, and it is both a credit and non-credit course at the college. |
Douglas Brandt Byerly is the Chair of the Performing Arts Department at AACC and is Coordinator and Associate Professor of Music. Doug founded and is the Artistic Director of OPERA AACC, a company which is dedicated to training and developing young artists through collaboration and production experience. OPERA AACC partners with area professional and community performers, including members of Annapolis Opera, Baltimore Opera, Baltimore Symphony, the Kennedy Center, National Symphony, Opera Vivente, and Washington National Opera. As a performer, Doug has sung and played piano/keyboards with Barry Manilow, Dennis Chambers (Carlos Santana's drummer), the Bare Naked Ladies, The Bobs, and Manhattan Transfer, as well as numerous operatic and musical theatre roles, including being featured as Gaston in the Phoenix Festival Theatre's production of Disney's "Beauty and the Beast." A graduate of the Peabody Conservatory of the Johns Hopkins University with an M.M. in Music Education and Choral Conducting, Doug complete his undergraduate studies at Western Michigan University with a B.M. in Music Education/Vocal Performance. |
