Dr. Thomas Isekenegbe, President
Cumberland County College

Dr. Thomas A. Isekenegbe was appointed as the sixth President of Cumberland County College (CCC) by the college's Board of Trustees in March 2010. Dr. Isekenegbe served as CCC's Interim President from June 2009 until his appointment as President. Dr. Isekenegbe was CCC's Vice President of Academic Affairs and Enrollment Services since 2002. He has also held senior administrative positions at Hudson County Community College, Coastal Carolina University, and Sussex County Community College.

Local residents and visitors from throughout the world attended the Presidential Inauguration ceremonies on October 14, 15, and 16. These milestone events introduced the theme of Dr. Isekenegbe's presidency – Engage, Inspire, Transform.

"I'm very proud of how we all work together to make our college a vibrant place where students really do get opportunities to change their lives forever," Dr. Isekenegbe said.  "We must ensure that the college continues to offer reasonably priced, quality higher education that's close to home. This is so important because educated residents dramatically enhance economic development by providing essential professional services and community leadership."

Dr. Isekenegbe plans to maintain and build on the positive collaborations and partnerships between the college and the community. The President led the college through its recent successful 10-year reaccreditation process with the Middle States Commission on Higher Education, and he's moving the college forward toward the implementation of its five-year strategic plan. He is leading a local and state-wide effort to improve student retention and graduation rates. Dr. Isekenegbe is also building on the positive collaborations between the college and the community in the areas of leadership and economic development.
