National Science Foundation Grant Opportunities for Community College Teacher Education Programs
Through this interactive session representatives from the National Science Foundation (NSF) will share grant opportunities and ideas for developing a successful grant proposal. This session will include activities such as identifying components of a quality proposal and writing tips for success.
NSF provides almost $80 million per year for community colleges, primarily through the Division of Undergraduate Education (DUE). This session will focus on the programs that support teacher education including the Advanced Technological Education Program (ATE), Robert Noyce Teacher Scholarship Program and the Math and Science Partnership Program. Other programs in DUE that have traditionally provided significant support to community colleges include the Transforming Undergraduate Education in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (TUES), STEM Talent Expansion Program (STEP), and NSF Scholarships in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (S-STEM).

Friday Forum Two
Web 2.0 Tools to Enhance Learning
Communication is vital to the success of teaching and learning. In this session, the presenters will share Web 2.0 tools that have been integrated in their courses (online, hybrid, and face-to-face) to prepare students for the 21st century classroom. For example, are you tired of answering email after email describing how to navigate your course site? And, hesitant about giving students your personal cell phone number? Then, we have the answer for you with Web 2.0 tools like Jing, Google Voice, and others. The presenters will share and demonstrate a step-by-step process of several Web 2.0 tools in an interactive format. Time will also be allocated for questions and answers. Please bring a laptop with you.
